Pakistan, Malaysia Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

The resolve was expressed during a telephone conversation on Saturday between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm Eid-al-Adha greetings to his Malaysian counterpart. During the call, both leaders also prayed for peace and the protection of innocent civilians in Gaza.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s support and balanced stance during the Pakistan-India crisis, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and dialogue.

He added that Pakistan had always strived for regional peace and stability. However, it was left with no option but to respond swiftly and decisively to India’s military aggression.

The premier went on to say that Pakistan had accepted the offer of a ceasefire understanding, brokered by the US and other friendly nations, in the interest of regional peace and security.

He added that Pakistan is ready for dialogue with India on all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in a separate telephonic conversation with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan has always strived for maintaining peace and security in the region and it was in this spirit that it had agreed to the ceasefire understanding with India, brokered by the US and other friendly countries.


The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Tajikistan for its balanced and constructive stance, advocating for peace and dialogue during the recent Pakistan-India crisis.

In his remarks, President Emomali Rahmon appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and security. Both leaders also exchanged Eid greetings with each other.
