ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to further expand military-to-military relationship in the light of evolving regional security dynamics, a military statement said on Wednesday.
The commitment was expressed during a meeting between Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia, General Tan Sri Hj Mohd Nizam bin Hj Jaffar, and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said.
During the meeting, both sides held comprehensive discussions on the evolving global and regional security environment and stressed the importance of exploring new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation in defence and security domains.
The visiting dignitary lauded the professional standards of Pakistan Armed Forces, their achievements, and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and continued efforts towards regional peace and stability.
Earlier, upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented a Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.
Pakistan and Malaysia have historically enjoyed close ties ever since they established diplomatic ties in 1957. Both countries have strengthened cooperation in various sectors such as defense, trade, economy, manpower exports, and education over the years.
