ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance cooperation in maritime security following discussions between Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf and his Malaysian counterpart, Admiral Tan Sri Zulhelmy bin Ithnain, a military statement said on Sunday.
The two navies agreed to align strategic perspectives, boost operational coordination, and undertake capacity-building initiatives to address regional maritime security challenges, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

It added Pakistan Navy chief highlighted his force’s contributions to regional stability through the Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) and participation in the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).
Pakistan and Malaysia have maintained close naval ties for decades, including joint exercises, information sharing, and collaborative training programmes to ensure the safety of maritime trade routes and regional stability. Both navies have previously coordinated on humanitarian assistance, anti-piracy operations, and the multilateral maritime security frameworks.
Both sides also agreed to strengthen collaboration between Malaysia’s National Hydrographic Centre and Pakistan’s National Hydrographic Office, focusing on training, data exchange, and professional development, ISPR said.
The outcome of the visit underscores the enduring Pakistan-Malaysia naval partnership and joint commitment to future-oriented maritime security operations.
