Pakistan, Kyrgyz Top Diplomats Meet in Astana on May 21

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan will be meeting on May 21, 2024, in Astana to discuss the student issue. This meeting is scheduled to take place within the framework of the SCO Ministerial Council.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, involving Deputy Minister Avazbek Atakhanov and Pakistani Ambassador Hassan Ali Zaigham met and discussed addressing the incident that occurred on Saturday, in Bishkek, involving foreign students, including Pakistanis.

Ambassador Zaigham expressed appreciation for the Kyrgyz side’s assistance in obtaining information about the incident. He conveyed gratitude for the swift response and cooperation extended by the Kyrgyz authorities.

Deputy Minister Atakhanov assured that the situation had been effectively resolved, with law enforcement agencies in Kyrgyzstan maintaining full control. An investigation is underway to hold accountable all those involved in the incident.

This bilateral engagement underscores the commitment of both countries to address challenges promptly and maintain robust diplomatic relations, ensuring the well-being and safety of foreign nationals within their territories.
