Pakistan, Kuwait Sign MoUs on Industrial Cooperation, Engineering

ISLAMABAD: Significant progress has been achieved in strengthening mutual cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations between Kuwait and Pakistan during the 5th Joint Ministerial Commission. Both nations have signed agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) in the fields of Industrial Cooperation and Engineering, marking a notable step forward in their diplomatic ties.

Pakistan also invited Kuwait to explore opportunities in the Pharmaceutical, Engineering, and Automotive sectors, with a commitment to undertake concrete initiatives in these areas.

Led by Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, a high-level Pakistani delegation engaged in extensive talks with Kuwaiti authorities, culminating in the announcement of Pakistan’s decision to appoint a Commercial Counselor in Kuwait. Moreover, Abdul Aleem Khan also said that the government soon will introduce “Visa on Arrival” services for GCC Member Countries in Pakistan.

In his address to the Joint Ministerial Commission, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted Kuwait’s potential to tap into Pakistan’s pool of skilled workforce, including veterinary staff, doctors, nurses, and other professionals.

He expressed hope that Kuwait would consider relaxing visa conditions for Pakistani nationals in the future, signaling Pakistan’s eagerness for long-term economic collaboration through special facilities under the banner of SIFC.

Emphasizing the vast investment opportunities available in Pakistan across various sectors such as IT, Tourism, Minerals, Agriculture, Food, Textile, and Energy, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan disclosed discussions on potential joint ventures with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce. Moreover, fruitful consultations were held with Kuwait’s renowned Livestock Organization “Al Muashi” to promote the export of Poultry and dairy products from Pakistan to Kuwait.

Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Omar Saud Al-Omar, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the 5th Joint Ministerial Commission and assured Pakistan of Kuwait’s unwavering support.

Prior to the engagements in Kuwait, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan held a detailed meeting with Kuwait’s Minister of Electricity, Water, and Energy, Dr. Mahmood A. M. Bashehri, to explore avenues for collaboration in addressing energy challenges faced by both countries. Both ministers expressed goodwill and underscored the potential for joint working groups under SIFC to address energy-related issues.
