ISLAMABAD: The second round of Pakistan-Kazakhstan Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) took place on Monday in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Additional Secretary (Afghanistan & West Asia), led the Pakistani delegation, while Kanat Tumysh, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed the Kazakh side.
During the consultations, the two sides engaged in extensive discussions encompassing various aspects of bilateral relations. These discussions encompassed the political and diplomatic sphere, trade and economic connectivity, science and technology, and cultural sectors. Additionally, they exchanged perspectives on matters of regional and global significance. The review also encompassed cooperation between the two nations within the frameworks of the United Nations, CICA, OIC, ECO, and SCO.
Both sides reached an agreement to expedite the finalization of the Transit Trade Agreement, which is poised to serve as a catalyst for augmented trade between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. Furthermore, they expressed their support for bolstering connectivity between the two countries and warmly welcomed the imminent resumption of direct flights, set to commence early next month.
The consultations provided an opportune moment for both parties to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current state of bilateral relations. Furthermore, they identified new areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to further fortify bilateral ties.
