ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kazakhstan on Monday agreed on further strengthening of relations in the education sector during the second meeting of the Pak-Kazakhstan Alumni Forum.
Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, President of the Pak-Kazakhstan Alumni Forum and Coordinator General COMSTECH, welcomed the participants of the meeting.
Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin attended the meeting, while Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairman of Punjab Higher Education Commission, Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq Vice Chancellor Government College Women University Faisalabad, Rao Khalid Honorary Consul General Kazakhstan, Faisal Manzoor Chairman Board of Governors, University of Sialkot, Prof. Muhammad Suleman Tahir Vice Chancellor the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan, and other important educationists were also present along with over seventy Alumni from different universities of Kazakhstan.
The Forum’s president Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, said that the Pak-Kazakh alumni forum was based on the common mission to remain connected to the alma mater in Kazakhstan and to help in enhancing cooperation between the two nations in the field of cultural exchanges, higher education and technological transfer.
Gift of excellent education
He lauded the gift of excellent education that was provided to the alumni by the government and the people of Kazakhstan. He said that currently, 4 universities in Kazakhstan are in the top 500 of QS ranking. The alumni body can serve as a bridge between the two nations and become a permanent ambassador of Kazakhstan in Pakistan.
Prof. Choudhary proposed to the Forum to arrange skill development events like conferences, workshops, and training courses both at professional and technical levels at Kazakhstan House. He also proposed that the Kazakhstan embassy with COMSTECH assist in the mobility of the alumni to Central Asian countries for skill development courses and hold a joint education expo in Islamabad, Pakistan.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan Kistafin welcomed the participants of the meeting. He emphasized that the people of both nations should be focused on special areas, especially education that can help to develop and strengthen relations between the two nations.
