ISLAMABAD: Major General Yousef Ahmed A Al Huneiti, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces, has called on Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and discussed regional security and bilateral defence ties, a military statement said on Thursday.
According to Pakistan military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the meeting at the army headquarters, they explored matters of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics and opportunities to enhance bilateral defence and military cooperation.
The Jordanian military chief praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces, highlighting their pivotal role in promoting regional peace and stability, ISPR stated.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Jordan and emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts to address evolving security challenges, according to ISPR.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further deepen military-to-military cooperation between the two brotherly countries, the ISPR statement added.
It is pertinent to mention that last month Jordan’s King Abdullah II paid an official visit to Pakistan and held talks with the country’s civil and military leadership to enhance bilateral defence and security ties.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, during the meeting with the visiting dignitary, reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing military-to-military cooperation with Jordan and jointly realising the mutual vision of a stable and peaceful region.
During the visit, King Abdullah conferred upon Field Marshal Munir the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree, “in recognition of his outstanding service and significant contributions to strengthening military cooperation between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Pakistan”.
The Jordanian king’s visit to Pakistan marked a significant milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of fraternity and brotherhood between Pakistan and Jordan, ISPR stated in a statement in November.
During the Jordanian King’s visit, Pakistan’s government also conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian award, upon King Abdullah II.
The accolade was presented to the king by President Asif Ali Zardari. In response, King Abdullah conferred the Order of the Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al-Nahda, one of the kingdom’s highest honours, upon President Zardari.
