Pakistan: Japan Embassy, PNCA Arrange Photographic Exhibition

ISLAMABAD: The Japan Foundation and Japan Embassy in Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) held an exhibition here on Wednesday titled “Photographic Images and Matter to Japanese prints of the 1970s”.

Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Wada Mitsuhiro inaugurated the exhibition, said a press release issued by the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad.

The exhibition will remain open for the visitors till February 19.

The event was divided into two sections comrpising “The Age of Photographic Images,” and “Images of Autonomous Matter”.

Photographic Exhibition

The exhibition focused to give a subtle understanding of contemporary art trends of the 1970s which were triggered by the print medium. The artworks of 14 prominent Japanese artists were displayed in the exhibition. 

While speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro said that the exhibition provided a decent opportunity to the viewers to know about the Japanese prints of the 1970s, an era in which new trends emerged in contemporary Japanese art due to a focus on photographic images and matter.

The envoy hoped that the viewer will get a deeper understanding of contemporary art trends of the 1970s which were triggered by the print medium.

The Japan Foundation regularly conducts the “Traveling Exhibitions Program” to introduce Japanese arts and culture in other countries.
