ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has advised its citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon in view of the recent developments and the prevailing security situation in the region.

Pakistan foreign ministry spokesmen in a statement on Tuesday said all Pakistani nationals presently residing in Lebanon are advised to leave Lebanon while the commercial flights remain available.

It said those staying in Lebanon are advised to exercise extreme caution, especially with regard to vulnerable areas.

“They are also requested to remain in contact with the Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut,” the statement said.

Amid fears of a war between Israel and Hezbollah, many countries have intensified their calls for their citizens to leave Lebanon. Some airlines have also suspended their flight operations to Lebanon.

Regional tensions have increased after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’ top leader, in Tehran last Wednesday, a day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander.

Both Hamas and Iran have accused Israel of orchestrating the killing, which has sparked vows of retaliation and heightened tensions. The situation underscores the growing volatility in the Middle East and the potential for further escalation.
