Pakistan, Iran Ministers Discuss Cooperation Ahead of Trilateral Conference

Mohsin Naqvi to attend a trilateral conference in Tehran on pilgrims’ issues

TEHRAN: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Tehran on Sunday and discussed matters of mutual interest, with a focus on regional cooperation and facilitation of pilgrims.

Mohsin Naqvi, during the meeting, also expressed best wishes for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, Radio Pakistan reported.

Iranian Interior Minister expressed hope that the visit of Mohsin Naqvi will certainly help in promoting Pak-Iran relations.

Naqvi said that the upcoming Pak-Iran-Iraq trilateral conference will help resolve the problems of pilgrims. Both leaders also discussed the issues of mutual interest and Pak-Iran relations.

Earlier, upon his arrival at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, Mohsin Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The Interior Minister will attend a trilateral conference aimed at addressing border management and facilitating the movement of pilgrims.

Initiated at Pakistan’s request, the conference will bring together the interior ministers of Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq.

The trilateral dialogue, set to take place tomorrow (Monday), aims to develop coordinated strategies for improving border security and facilitating safer, smoother pilgrimages across the region.

Mohsin Naqvi will also hold a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian.

In May, Interior Minister Naqvi held a meeting with the Interior Minister of Iran, Eskandar Momeni, during his visit to Tehran.

Both sides had agreed to keep the Pakistan-Iran border open 24/7 for pilgrims during Arbaeen and Muharam-ul-Haram.
