JEDDAH: Pakistan and Iran have strongly condemned “Israeli aggression” in Gaza, stressing the urgent need for unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid and a durable ceasefire.
The demand was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers’ session in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“Glad to meet my brother, FM of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghch, today on the sidelines of the OIC CFM emergency session on Palestine,” Ishaq Dar said in a post.
“We discussed the grave situation in Gaza, strongly condemning Israeli aggression, genocide, and famine, and emphasised the urgent need for unhindered humanitarian aid and a lasting ceasefire,” he said.
He said that, recalling the recent high-level exchanges, including the recent visit of the President of Iran to Pakistan, both sides reaffirmed the close and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran.
“We also exchanged views on peace and security in the region and beyond,” he said.
