Pakistan, Iran Agree to Enhance Health Cooperation

CAIRO: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to enhance health cooperation between the two countries. The decision was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Health Minister, Dr. Nadeem Jan, and Iran’s Minister of Health, Dr. Bahram Eynollahi, on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the WHO’s Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in Cairo.

Dr. Nadeem Jan highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Pakistan and Iran, underpinned by shared faith, history, and culture. He emphasized the warmth of relations between the leadership and people of both nations.

In response, the Iranian Health Minister expressed that Iran not only regards Pakistan as a neighboring country but also as a brotherly nation.

During their meeting, the two ministers discussed emerging challenges in the healthcare sector and identified a way forward to address these challenges for the betterment of residents in both countries and the broader region.

Both parties agreed to collaborate and leverage best practices to enhance healthcare services. Minister Nadeem Jan extended an invitation to his Iranian counterpart to participate in the Global Health Security Summit in Islamabad this coming December.

In return, the Iranian Health Minister invited Dr. Nadeem Jan to visit Iran at a mutually convenient date.
