ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a day of mourning for Muslims worldwide and for the citizens of Pakistan, state media reported.

In a video message, addressing the nation, Naqvi said that Pakistanis share the grief of their Iranian counterparts and emphasised the importance of maintaining law and order.

He urged citizens to register their protests peacefully and lawfully, warning against any attempts to take the law into their own hands.

“Today is a day of sorrow for the Muslim Ummah, Iran, and the people of Pakistan,” Naqvi said. “We stand in solidarity with our Iranian brothers and sisters, and request our citizens to convey their grief through peaceful channels.”

The Interior Minister’s remarks come amid escalated regional conflict and heightened regional tensions across the globe following the recent strikes that resulted in the death of Khamenei and other senior Iranian leaders and officials. Authorities in Pakistan are closely monitoring public gatherings and urging calm to prevent any escalation.
