Pakistan Intensifies Crackdown on Vehicles Violating Excise Laws

ISLAMABAD: The Excise and Taxation Department of Islamabad has ramped up its enforcement efforts against vehicles violating excise laws in the Federal Capital. The focus is on addressing illegal modifications and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

According to a spokesman for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, the department has launched a comprehensive crackdown on vehicles featuring fancy number plates, tinted windows, unauthorized police lights, and those failing to pay the required token tax.

Excise officials are conducting inspections across major highways, bustling markets, and other key locations in Islamabad. In a recent operation, 66 vehicles with tinted windows and 99 vehicles lacking registration plates were targeted.

Furthermore, 53 vehicles had their registrations suspended due to various excise law violations. Three vehicles equipped with illegal police lights had these lights removed and were subsequently seized. Token taxes were collected from 200 vehicles, with fines imposed for non-payment.

Bilal Azam, Director of Excise and Taxation, urged vehicle owners to remove non-standard number plates and tinted windows to avoid penalties. He also advised against using HD lights in public vehicles and emphasized the importance of settling any outstanding token taxes and registering unregistered vehicles.

The Excise Department remains dedicated to enforcing excise laws in Islamabad and ensuring that all vehicles adhere to the regulations.
