JAKARTA: Pakistan’s Acting Ambassador to Indonesia, Faisal Fiaz, highlighted the potential for Pakistan to enhance its collaboration with Indonesia and gain easier access to Indonesian and ASEAN markets, given Indonesia’s steady economic growth.

In 2022, the bilateral trade between Pakistan and Indonesia amounted to approximately US$ 4.2 billion, a figure that could be further elevated by fostering stronger business connections within the private sectors of both nations.

These remarks were made during a meeting with a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by Vice President Engr Azhar ul Islam Zafar, during their visit to the embassy in Jakarta. The ICCI delegation, including members such as Muhammad Shabbir, Ch. Muhammad Ali, Hamayun Kabir, Chaudhary Javed Iqbal, Sheikh Muhammad Ejaz, and Akhtar Hussain were commended for their participation in the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia Hybrid Edition 2023.

Acting Ambassador Faisal Fiaz underscored the importance of frequent exchanges of trade delegations to enhance the trade ties between Pakistan and Indonesia.

He also highlighted that in 2013, Pakistan had signed a preferential trade agreement with Indonesia, and it was crucial for the business community to leverage this agreement to boost trade and exports with Indonesia. Faisal Fiaz assured that the embassy would provide full support to Pakistan’s business community in discovering new avenues for promoting trade with Indonesia.
