ISLAMABAD: Two key leaders of former Prime Minister Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema announced on Thursday to quit the party and all positions.
They made the announcement during a press conference in Islamabad where they expressed their condemnation of the events that happened on May 9.
Cheema said that he believed that all those responsible for the attack on Jinnah House on May 9 should be punished as per the law. Musarrat Cheema expressed her regret for the tragic event on May 9, calling it a “tragedy”. Musarrat Cheema also said that she was quitting politics and PTI.
Earlier, former parliamentary secretary for law and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Maleeka Bokhari on Thursday condemned the attack on military installations on May 9 hours after she was released from Adiyala jail Rawalpindi.
She also announced quitting the PTI. Earlier in the day, the authorities suspended the orders of her detention under the MPO. “May 9 was a very difficult day for every Pakistani,” she said at a press conference.
The former MNA resigned from the PTI, saying that she is “disassociating” herself from the party. She added that she was no pressured to quit the party. “It is very difficult to be behind bars in the heat of May.”
