ISLAMABAD: Pakistan imported mobile phones worth 414.801 million dollars during the first 7 months (July to January) of ongoing financial year 2022-23, registering a negative growth of 67.35% when compared to 1.270 billion dollars during the corresponding period of last year.
Data released from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics showed that on a month-on-month (MoM) basis cell phone imports registered 28.12% growth and stood at 51.960 million dollars in January 2023 when compared to 72.291 million dollars in December last year.
Mobile Phones register negative growth
Cell phone imports registered 71.10% negative growth on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in January 2023 when compared to 179.765 million dollars during January 2022.
Pakistan’s overall telecom imports stood at 644.127 million dollars during the period under review and registered 61.01% negative growth when compared to 1.652 billion dollars during the same period of last financial year.
However, the overall telecom imports registered a negative growth of 65.75% on a YoY basis and stood at 78.337 million dollars when compared to 228.712 million dollars in January last year. On MoM basis overall telecom imports registered 28.79% growth in January 2023 when compared to 110.165 million dollars during December last year.
