Pakistan Highlights Muslim World League as Key Platform for Unity of Muslim Ummah

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Tuesday stressed the significance of the Muslim World League’s platform for the Muslim Ummah, adding that this forum can foster unity among Muslims and collectively address their shared challenges.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Dr Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, in Islamabad, state-run news agency APP reported.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and various challenges facing the Muslim Ummah were discussed in detail.

He praised the efforts of the Muslim World League and its Secretary General, highlighting the urgent need for a coordinated and unified approach to combat oppression and human rights violations faced by Muslims in various parts of the world.

Emphasising the importance of unity among Muslim nations, the Chairman Senate noted that mutual trust and solidarity are essential to strengthening their collective voice on the global stage.

Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, described his visit to Pakistan as highly meaningful and thanked the Chairman Senate for his warm hospitality and engagement.

He reaffirmed the League’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan and advancing a unified position on international platforms.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia ties

Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf also hosted a dinner in honour of Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa during which he appreciated the role of the Muslim World League in promoting unity, interfaith dialogue, and humanitarian cooperation.

“The MWL has always been at the forefront of fostering dialogue, tolerance, and understanding among diverse communities,” the minister said, adding that Pakistan deeply values the League’s constructive role in strengthening the bonds of Muslim solidarity.

The Secretary General of the Muslim World League emphasised that the unity of the Muslim Ummah is more important than ever before to cope with the new challenges.

Dr Al-Issa reaffirmed the MWL’s continued commitment to advancing peace, coexistence, and service to humanity, stressing that cooperation and mutual respect remain the foundations of a strong and united Ummah.

The MWL Secretary General arrived in Pakistan on Sunday for a six-day official visit to enhance religious harmony and strengthen ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During his visit, Dr Al-Issa is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with senior government officials, religious scholars, and interfaith leaders.
