Pakistan Govt Hikes Petrol Prices by Rs 17.50 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD — The government on Tuesday increased the petroleum price by up to Rs 17.50 per litre in bi-monthly revision.

According to a notification issued by the finance ministry, the new petrol price would be Rs 290.45 per liter from 272.95 per liter with a massive increase of Rs 17.50 per liter.

As per the notification, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs20 per litre to Rs293.40.

Earlier Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had proposed Rs9.88 per litre increase in petrol price and Rs21.84 per litre increase in the high-speed diesel price.

Petrol Prices

The new prices have been announced after holding consultation with caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. The new petroleum prices would come into effect from Aug 16.

Over the past two weeks, the prices of refined oil products increased by $13 to $111 per barrel, while petrol price went up by $7 to $97 per barrel in the international market.

Earlier on August 1, the former finance minister had announced a massive Rs20 per litre increase in petrol prices for the first half of August.

Meanwhile, people have voiced concern over reports of an increase in petrol fuel prices.
