Pakistan Govt Approves Three Official Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha

ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan on Tuesday approved three official holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha from June 17 to 19 to celebrate the special occasion with religious zeal and fervour, local media reported.

According to media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the summary forwarded by the Cabinet Division.

Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on June 17 (Monday) after the Zil Hajj moon was sighted on June 7 last week. The festival falls on the 10th day of the Zil Hajj month of the Islamic calendar.

Earlier, the Cabinet Division had submitted a summary to PM Shehbaz Sharif for the Eid holidays from June 17 to June 19.

Moreover, since Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 are already weekly holidays, there will be a total of five holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. The extended break will allow citizens to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha with their families and communities.

With Eid-ul-Adha just around the corner, cattle markets have been set up in different areas for people to purchase sacrificial animals including goats, cows, sheep and camels for sacrifice.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has announced a 25% reduction in fares as a special package for commuters on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

The discount will be available on all types of trains and classes with the exception of Eid special trains.
