ISLAMABAD: Following a month-long dry weather, the third spell of winter rain and snowfall has started in the upper parts of Hazara division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
Officials said that Galyat and Thandyani areas received more than six inches of snow while in Mansehra, Kaghan, Shogran, and Naran received up to 1 feet of snow.
Tourists enjoy live snowfall
Director General Galyat Development Authority (GDA) has issued directives to the staff to be alert during the snowfall and continue their efforts to clear the roads for traffic. The official ordered immediately to provide all sorts of facilities to the tourists in the area. He told the media that the control rooms were fully operationalized in Changla Gali and Nathyagli to monitor the situation.
He directed tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and visits as snowfall is increasing. Reports suggest that a large number of tourists have reached Galyat to enjoy live snow despite the issuance of a travel advisory.
Galyat Development Authority (GDA) spokesperson told the media that road maintenance work is underway in Galyat during snowfall and will make it possible for tourists to make access the tourist spots safely while heavy machinery is being utilized in the snow clearance operation.
