PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Pakistan’s security forces killed three terrorists, including a ring leader, belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group during an intelligence-based operation in Mohmand district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security sources said on Thursday.
The operation was carried out in a remote area of the district bordering Afghanistan, following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists, the sources added.
Security sources said that the killed terrorists included Zai Ullah, also known by the alias Amaar Mohmand, and a TTP commander identified as Sadiq Masood.
According to security sources, the operation was conducted as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the province.
The terrorist group “manipulate the teachings of Islam to justify acts of violence and bloodshed” and targets civilians “without regard for human life or dignity,” sources said.
The primary objective of these terrorists is to spread fear and create a state of chaos, attempting to destabilise communities and society at large, sources added.
Pakistan’s security forces, according to the sources, are continuing counter terrorism operations with “precision and intelligence-based coordination” to prevent terrorist activity and safeguard civilians.
The intelligence-based counter terrorism operations are being carried out across the region to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent attacks on civilians and security personnel.
“These operations are executed with the specific purpose of safeguarding innocent lives, ensuring peace and security in society,” security sources said.
The law enforcement agencies remain committed to maintaining peace and stability through sustained counter-terrorism efforts, sources said.
The recent successful elimination of three terrorists in Mohmand highlights the unwavering dedication of the security forces in neutralising these threats, showcasing their commitment to national security and the protection of civilians.
All law enforcement agencies are performing their duties with bravery and dedication, working tirelessly to secure the homeland and protect innocent lives from the menace of extremism.
The operation was part of the ongoing large scale counter terrorism operation Ghazab lil-Haq.
The TTP terrorist group is based in Afghanistan and is involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The terrorist group, according to UN reports, enjoy support from the Afghan Taliban regime.
Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries within their territory, particularly those associated with the TTP, but officials say these demands have not been acted upon.
Pakistan, on February 26, launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against terrorist groups operating from across the border.
