RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group while foiling two infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the terrorists’ border infiltration attempts were foiled on April 28 and 29 in Mohmand and North Waziristan districts, where troops detected and engaged terrorist groups attempting to cross into Pakistan.

In Mohmand district, the movement of a terrorist group trying to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was picked up by the security forces, ISPR said.

The security forces “effectively engaged” the terrorist group, the military’s media wing said.

“As a result of precise and skilful engagement, eight khwarij belonging to Indian sponsored Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell,” ISPR said.

The state refers to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group as “Fitna al-Khwarij” and its members as “Khwarij” or “Khariji.”

In another engagement, according to ISPR, the security forces effectively foiled another infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan district, and after an intense fire exchange, five terrorists were killed.

These engagements once again substantiate Pakistan’s repeated stance regarding the abject failure of the Afghan Taliban Regime to ensure effective border management on their side, the military’s media wing stated.

The Afghan Taliban Regime must fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Indian-sponsored terrorists and the involvement of Afghan citizens in terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

“The Security Forces of Pakistan remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation’s frontiers,” the military resolved.

Sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any other Indian sponsored terrorists found in the area, ISPR said.

“Relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision “Azm e Istehkam” (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the military’s media wing said.

The TTP terrorist group is based in Afghanistan and is involved in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. The terrorist group, according to UN reports, enjoy support from the Afghan Taliban regime.

Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban to eliminate terrorist sanctuaries within their territory, particularly those associated with the TTP, but officials say these demands have not been acted upon.

Pakistan, on February 26, launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq against terrorist groups operating from across the border.
