Pakistan: FIA Detains Suspects Involved in Harassment, Fraud in Raids

FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime circle Faisalabad arrested a suspect for harassing a woman on social media, according to the agency’s spokesperson.

The suspect was involved in harassing the complainant by sharing her objectionable photos and videos online besides blackmailing her for money. The FIA officials also seized his cell phone from which objectionable material was recovered. The suspect was identified as Ali Zohaib Mughal.

A case was also lodged against him under PECA regulations.

FIA raid fraud based on gift scheme

In another raid in Faisalabad, the agency detained five suspects involved in a fraud gift scheme. The men were found to have committed fraud of Rs 1.5 million. The FIA team also seized five mobile phones from the suspects.

The agency also nabbed another suspect who was involved in committing fraud by impersonating as a bank representative on phone calls. His cell phone was seized as well.

Social media harasser

The FIA also arrested another suspect in Dera Ismail Khan involved in harassing a woman on social media. The suspect was involved in harassing the complainant by sharing obscene material online as well as blackmailing her for money. The suspect was identified as Usman Ali against whom a case has been filed under PECA regulations.
