Pakistan Face Early Setback as England Declare at 823/7 in Multan Test

MULTAN:  In a thrilling match at Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan have faced a challenge as they began their second innings following England declared their first innings at a massive 823-7.

Harry Brook made superb 317 and Joe Root scored 262 runs as both batters made their highest test scores on the flat wicket at the Multan Cricket Stadium.  The English batsmen showcased exceptional skill, with Joe Root leading the charge with a magnificent innings, expertly dismissed by Agha Salman. However, it was Harry Brook who stole the spotlight with an astonishing 317 runs, a feat that has cemented his status as one of the game’s brightest talents.  The hosts first inning are not so impressive as Abdullah Shafique fell to Woakes in the very first over.

Day 4 – Session 2: Pakistan trail by 251 runs.

Saim Ayoub got Brook out on the second ball of the over. In an effort to hit a sweep, the ball clipped the top edge, and the English batsman didn’t get the elevation he needed. The ball made its way into the Pakistan captain’s hands, as Shan Masood took the catch. Before being dismissed, Brook made the first triple century by an England batsman in 34 years. Atkinson was dismissed two balls later following Babar Azam took the catch.

The visitors made a total of 823, which is the fourth highest total by a team in a test innings ever. England have the second and third highest scores, which they made against Australia in 1938 and West Indies in 1930 respectively. England team finally declared their innings after 150 overs, leading by 267 runs at the break.
