ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the confirmation of BJP leadership’s direct involvement in violence against Muslim in Gujarat riots.

More than two thousand innocent Muslims were killed during the horrific Gujarat riots in 2002.

Islamabad urged New Delhi to immediately form an independent committee of inquiry to bring the culprits of the horrific incident, as well as the Gujarat riots, to justice.

Islamabad asks world to take notice of human rights violation in India

“The recent remarks by the former Chief Minister Gujarat, Shankersinh Vaghela, has confirmed Islamabad’s long-standing assertion that the BJP-led government under the current Prime Minister Modi was directly accountable for the violence and massacre as Modi was Chief Minister during the riots,” Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

Islamabad also stressed upon the world, particularly human rights defenders and activists to take serious and immediate note of the aggravating situation of Islamophobia in India, the spokesperson said.

It added that Indian government must ensure that the rights of Muslims in India were safeguarded.  It may be recalled that in last June the Indian Supreme Court handed a clean chit to Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, for his role in Gujarat riots. – APP
