Dar arrived in Brussels earlier in the day to co-chair the 7th Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue, following an invitation from EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
He was received at the airport by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, and other embassy officials.
The Foreign Office (FO) said in a press release on Wednesday that the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue represents the highest level of institutionalised engagement between the two sides.
The statement noted that Dar’s visit to Brussels represents a “significant milestone in Pakistan–EU relations” and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to building a “comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership” with the EU.
The visit follows Dar’s trip to Russia, where he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
