ISLAMABAD: Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, met with Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad on Friday and discussed bilateral cooperation in the media sector.
The ambassador expressed a keen interest in fostering collaboration between the state broadcasters of Ethiopia and Pakistan to facilitate the exchange of information and promote each country’s culture and tourism.
Highlighting the importance of countering hybrid warfare through accurate information dissemination, Ambassador Jemal emphasized the need for strong collaboration in presenting the true image of both nations through various media formats, including films, documentaries, and short videos.
Ethiopia is a Gateway to Africa
Ambassador Jemal also noted that Ethiopia, as a gateway to Africa, could play a pivotal role in connecting Pakistan with the African continent. He highlighted Ethiopia’s thriving media sector, which is adapting to modern trends such as digitization.
Minister Murtaza Solangi commended Ethiopia’s economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and acknowledged Ethiopia’s critical role in the effective implementation of the Look Africa Initiative. The minister proposed several initiatives to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the media industry and assured the ambassador of full support in promoting Ethiopia’s culture in Pakistan, including assistance from the Ethiopian Embassy.
