Pakistan Envoy Condoles Iranian President, Foreign Minister’s Death in Helicopter Crash

WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US), Masood Khan has visited Iran’s Interest Section in Washington to expressed deep condolences on the demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and their other companions in a helicopter crash on May 19, local media reported on Saturday.

 

Masood Khan wrote on the ‘Condolence Book’ that on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, they conveyed their deepest condolences to the people and leadership of Iran for the tragic death and loss of late President Raisi.

 

He stated that Iran has no embassy in the US since 1980 when Washington and Tehran broke off diplomatic ties after the seizure by students of the American Embassy in Tehran. Since the two sides operate Interests Section in their respective capitals to provide limited consular services.

 

Masood Khan remarked that Iran and Pakistan enjoy close fraternal relations and shared the grief of their brothers and sisters in Iran.
