KABUL: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul organized a special event to mark “Youm-e-Istehsal,” commemorating the unjust actions taken by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, in revoking the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event was attended by Pakistani nationals in Kabul, along with officials from the Embassy of Pakistan.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the playing of Pakistan’s national anthem. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were also read out during the event. Documentaries shedding light on the legal status of the Kashmir issue, in line with the UN Charter and several UNSC resolutions, were screened.

In his address, Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, the Head of Mission, emphasized that India’s actions on August 5, 2019, had no basis in international law and were a clear violation of successive UNSC resolutions that called for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through a free and fair plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations. He expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren and paid tribute to their sacrifices in their quest for legitimate rights.

The Head of Mission reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri brothers and sisters, underscoring the country’s commitment to finding a just and peaceful resolution to the long-standing Kashmir issue.
