BEIJING: The Pakistani Embassy in Beijing celebrated the 76th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day on Monday with an impressive flag-hosting ceremony.

The Holy Quran was recited before the national flag of Pakistan was raised by Moin ul Haque, Pakistan’s ambassador to China. Additionally, messages from the Prime Minister and the President were read. President Dr. Arif Alvi praised the sacrifices made by our forefathers and Pakistan movement activists in his statement.

The President called his citizens to support the underprivileged and defend the Islamic moral and ethical ideals of democracy, freedom, equality, and socioeconomic justice. In addition, the President reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching, ongoing political, diplomatic, and moral support for its Kashmiri brothers and sisters in exercising their rightful right to self-determination.

In his message, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the Quaid-i-Azam’s inspirational leadership and the other leaders for their hardships that led to Pakistan’s establishment. The prime minister commended Pakistanis’ ability to withstand the toughest natural calamities and their determination to rebuild.

Moin ul Haque, the ambassador, wished Pakistanis a happy 76th anniversary of the country’s independence. He praised the work of the founders and leaders who had developed and solidified the notion of a free and independent Muslim state in the subcontinent. He said that on this great day, let us all reaffirm our resolve to work together to create a wealthier and more united Pakistan while maintaining a steady pace and a complete commitment to our job.

He talked about the unique bond between Pakistan and China for a long time, and is getting stronger. The 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as the year of tourism exchanges between the two nations, make this year significant for both nations, he continued. He invited Chinese visitors to Pakistan to experience the country’s beauty and diversity of the landscape and the friendship Pakistanis have for them.

Ambassador Haque vehemently denounced India’s unilateral and illegal conduct in IIOJK on August 5, 2019, which was against international law and resolutions of the UN Security Council. He pledged Pakistan’s political, diplomatic, and moral support to the legitimate cause of Kashmiris’ fight for freedom. He also expressed sympathy with the people of IIOJK. “We stand in solidarity with the government and people of China in this hour of natural tragedy,” he added after expressing his sincere sympathies for the terrible loss of precious lives in floods and mudslides in China. He also appealed to the Pakistani community to assist their distressed Chinese brethren and sisters.

He described China as an all-weather friend and a trustworthy partner, saying that China always stood with us during Pakistan’s natural calamities and floods. Numerous members of the Pakistani community, Chinese friends, the media, and Embassy employees with their families attended the ceremony.
