ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have agreed on Sunday to strengthen cooperation to promote regional peace, stability, and development with special focus on Somalia and Yemen.

The understanding was reached during a telephone conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty.

During the discussion, both leaders welcomed the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, emphasising growing collaboration in trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement.

They also reviewed regional and global developments, focusing on conflict-affected areas such as Somalia and Yemen, and pledged to coordinate their efforts for humanitarian support, conflict resolution, and stability initiatives.

Pakistan and Egypt share longstanding diplomatic and economic ties, underpinned by historical, cultural, and strategic connections. In recent years, both countries have intensified collaboration in areas that include defence, counterterrorism, and regional diplomacy, reflecting a mutual commitment to addressing challenges in the Middle East and the broader Islamic world.

The conversation reaffirmed both countries’ shared vision for a stable and prosperous region, with continued dialogue and joint action expected to strengthen their partnership.
