ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday spoke with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty on recent regional developments and ongoing bilateral and multilateral issues.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, they emphasised the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation, and agreed to meet on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Pakistan and Egypt share longstanding diplomatic and economic ties, underpinned by historical, cultural, and strategic connections.

In recent years, both countries have intensified collaboration in areas that include defence, counterterrorism, and regional diplomacy, reflecting a mutual commitment to addressing challenges in the Middle East and the broader Islamic world.

Last month, Pakistan and Egypt agreed to strengthen cooperation to promote regional peace, stability, and development with special focus on Somalia and Yemen.

The understanding was reached during a telephone conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty.

They also reviewed regional and global developments, focusing on conflict-affected areas such as Somalia and Yemen, and pledged to coordinate their efforts for humanitarian support, conflict resolution, and stability initiatives.
