ISLAMABAD: Pakistan dispatched its 22nd aid consignment to Gaza on Monday, carrying 100 tons of humanitarian supplies.

The consignment was sent via a special flight from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in the presence of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and government officials, including Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The effort is being coordinated by the NDMA in collaboration with the Alkhidmat Foundation.

With this latest shipment, Pakistan has delivered a total of 2,127 tons of relief aid to Gaza. The consignment includes essential food items such as flour, rice, cooking oil, pulses, ready-to-eat meals, and canned fruit, packed in ration bags for families affected by the conflict.

In her address at the event, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the people of Gaza and praised the joint efforts of NDMA and Alkhidmat Foundation in ensuring the timely delivery of aid.

She expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza, stating that the hearts of the Pakistani people beat with the Palestinians.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a global authority on hunger monitoring, warned last month that northern Gaza is already experiencing famine, with the crisis expected to spread to central and southern parts of the territory by the end of September.

Pakistan, which does not recognise Israel or maintain diplomatic relations with it, has consistently called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on internationally agreed parameters and pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Since the start of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza in October 2023, Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over Palestinian civilian casualties at international forums, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, nearly 65,000 Palestinians—most of them civilians—have been killed in the conflict since it began in 2023.

Islamabad continues to urge the international community to pressure Israel into allowing unrestricted access for humanitarian aid into Gaza, stressing the urgent need to address the growing humanitarian catastrophe.
