ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces have carried out a series of air and ground operations against Afghan Taliban positions along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, destroying several posts and killing several terrorists, security sources said on Saturday.

The operations were conducted in multiple sectors including North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Kurram, Zhob and Qila Saifullah as part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, according to security sources.

Security sources said “several posts” belonging to the Afghan Taliban were destroyed during an aerial operation along the border near North Waziristan.

“The cowardly enemy was forced to leave its posts and flee during the effective operation of the Pakistan Army,” a security source said.

Security sources said the Afghan Taliban had suffered “heavy losses and defeat due to the Pakistan Army’s effective plan of action”.

Cross-border operations against terrorists

Security sources said Pakistan’s military conducted operations along the border areas of North and South Waziristan, targeting Afghan Taliban and “Fitna al Khawarij” terrorists’ positions.

According to the sources, multiple terrorists posts were destroyed during the operations.

“They destroyed many of their posts and forced them to abandon their positions and flee,” a source said.

“The Afghan Taliban forces are facing heavy losses in the Pakistan Army’s strong and powerful response.”

Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV, citing security sources, also reported that armed forces destroyed terrorist hideouts near the border in the Zhob and Qila Saifullah sectors.

Similarly, multiple Afghan Taliban and “Fitna al Khawarij” posts were destroyed in the Kurram sector, according to security sources quoted by PTV.

Pakistani forces also responded to “unprovoked firing” by Afghan Taliban forces across the border between the Kurram sector and Afghanistan’s Paktika province.

The retaliatory response led to the destruction of several Afghan Taliban posts and casualties among terrorists, the sources said.

Heavy casualties reported

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said hundreds of Afghan Taliban terrorists had been killed during the operations.

In a post on X, Tarar said 527 Afghan Taliban terrorists had been killed while more than 755 had been injured.

He said 237 checkposts had been destroyed, while 38 posts had been captured and later destroyed.

Tarar added that 205 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns had been destroyed during the campaign.

According to the minister, 62 locations across Afghanistan had been effectively targeted by air strikes.

On Thursday, security sources said the military had targeted 41 Afghan Taliban and terrorists posts on the night of March 4–5.

The operations were carried out using light and heavy weapons in areas adjacent to Chaman, Zhob, Noshki and Qila Abdullah, according to the sources.

The attacks caused “heavy casualties and financial losses” to Afghan Taliban terrorists, they added.

In another operation, Pakistani forces destroyed the Afghan Taliban’s 205 Corps brigade headquarters in Kandahar, security sources said.

They said an ammunition depot was also destroyed during the operation.

“The Afghan Taliban are suffering heavy military losses in the effective and strong operations carried out by the Pakistan Army,” a source said.
