ISLAMABAD: The Caretaker Federal Cabinet of Pakistan on Wednesday demanded an immediate cessation of Israeli bombardment in Gaza and an ending of the illegal siege of the territory, allowing international aid to reach victims.

The Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, along with Minister for Privatization Fawad Hassan Fawad, briefed the media about the decisions in the meeting of the cabinet in Islamabad, chaired by the Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.

Murtaza Solangi said that the cabinet strongly condemned Israeli bombardment against innocent and unarmed Palestinian citizens. It also expressed grave concerns about the shortage of water and food in Gaza.

He said the cabinet unanimously stressed that recent tension is a result of Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories for the last two decades, oppression against innocent Palestinian nationals, and open violation of UN Security Council Resolutions.

He said that the cabinet reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance that a sovereign, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine should be established on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital in light of the United Nations resolutions and will of the people of Palestine.

Federal Cabinet’s Other Decisions

Murtaza Solangi said Prime Minister Kakar also directed the federal ministers to only undertake necessary foreign visits.

He said the cabinet also approved the appointment of Justice retired Sohail Nasir as Deputy Chairman and Syed Ehtisham Qadir Shah as Prosecutor General of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

He added that it was also decided to hire the services of a Financial Advisory Consortium for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines.
