ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday called for the Israeli leadership and security forces to be held accountable for genocide and war crimes against Palestinians.

In a statement, the Prime Minister vehemently condemned the recent Israeli attack on a school in Gaza, describing it as a grave act of aggression. He pledged that Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic and moral support to Palestinians at all international forums.

The Prime Minister prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Palestinian families.

PM Shehbaz Sharif denounced the attack on school children as an unprecedented act of brutality and called for the Israeli leadership and security forces to be held accountable for the genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the International Court of Justice’s decisions regarding Israel to be enforced.

PM Shehbaz Sharif urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take decisive action to end Israeli aggression.

Gaza’s civil defence agency said that an Israeli attack hit a school in Gaza City, killing around 100 people. Gaza’s civil defence agency spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said in a post on Telegram, “Dozens injured after the Israeli bombing of the Al-Taba’een school in the Al-Sahaba area in Gaza City,”. Basal has described the attack as a horrific massacre with some bodies catching fire.

Earlier, on Thursday, the civil agency stated that Israeli strikes had hit two schools in Gaza City, killing over 18 people.  Israel’s brutal military campaign in the Gaza Strip has killed around 39,699 people, the Gaza health ministry said.

The recent development takes place as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has told Israel’s Minister for Defense Yoav Gallant in a phone call that the escalation of tensions in the Middle East was in no one interest while also stressing the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the State Department stated.
