ISLAMABAD: The head of the parliamentary delegation and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said that Pakistan defeated India both on the battlefield and diplomatic front.

PPP Chairman made the remarks while addressing the political workers in Karachi upon returning to the country after completing a diplomatic mission to the US and Europe.

He led a high-level peace mission to counter the Indian propaganda in the aftermath of the recent conflict between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours.

Speaking to workers, Bilawal stated that a high-level delegation had visited key capitals in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, following the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.

He noted that the delegation conveyed Pakistan’s message of peace and articulated the country’s positions on critical issues, including the Kashmir dispute, the Indus Waters Treaty, and counterterrorism efforts.

The former foreign minister also acknowledged the dedicated work of Pakistani ambassadors worldwide, crediting their tireless efforts for Pakistan’s recent diplomatic successes.

He claimed that Islamabad gave a solid response to New Delhi both on the battlefield and diplomatically after the arch-rival used Kashmir to attack Pakistan.

“It is our historic victory as the world accepted that Kashmir is not a bilateral but a global issue,” said Bilawal while pointing towards US President Trump’s statement offering mediation on the longstanding issue.

He also highlighted a recent statement by the US Centcom chief, who acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to counterterrorism and described Islamabad as a “phenomenal partner in the war against terror.” He cited this as further evidence of the success of his diplomatic mission.

He noted that shortly after the delegation concluded its visit to the United States, President Donald Trump extended an invitation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for a luncheon at the White House.

Bilawal asserted that Pakistan achieved significant diplomatic success in the aftermath of its recent confrontation with India.

Last month, both nuclear-armed neighbours carried out cross-border attacks against each other in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, wherein 26 tourists were killed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) after which New Delhi launched airstrikes inside Pakistan, prompting the latter to retaliate via Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

After at least 87 hours, the war between the two nuclear-armed nations ended on May 10 with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States.
