ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s federal government on Tuesday announced a nationwide public holiday on Saturday, September 6, to commemorate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
According to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division with the approval of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all public and private offices, educational institutions, and government departments will remain closed on the day.
Eid Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), is observed across Pakistan and many parts of the world with profound religious devotion and reverence.
The day traditionally begins with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, symbolising national respect.
Special prayers are offered in mosques after Fajr, seeking unity among the Muslim Ummah and praying for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, and security.
Religious gatherings, including conferences, processions, and Mehfil-e-Milad events, are organised throughout the day to honor the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), regarded as a source of guidance for all of humanity.
To mark the occasion, streets, mosques, government buildings, and homes are adorned with decorative lights, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere across the country.
