ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has announced to observe a day of mourning on Monday following the sad demise of Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has officially declared December 18 as a day of mourning in Pakistan as a gesture of fraternal solidarity with Kuwait. The national flag will fly at half-mast throughout the country on this day, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, aged 86, passed away on Saturday. Various nations expressed sorrow and extended condolences to Kuwait over the sad demise. The day of mourning is a solemn acknowledgment of Pakistan’s support and sympathy for the royal family, government, and people of Kuwait during this period of loss.
Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is also scheduled to visit Kuwait on a one-day trip to personally offer condolences on the demise of Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
