LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday allowed Parvez Elahi’s wife Qaisra Parvez to contest polls from two constituencies, local media reported. As per media reports, Moonis Elahi was not permitted to contest the upcoming elections in the country.
Court Declares Parvez Elahi’s Wife Eligible to Contest Election, Moonis Denied Permission
A three-member bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) led by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi conducted the proceedings of Qaisra Elahi and Moonis Elahi pleas against decision of the appellate tribunal.
The LHC also declared appellate tribunal’s order as null and void and permitted Qaisra Elahi to contest elections from NA-64 and PP-32.
The court, however, turned down Moonis Elahi’s appeal to set aside appellate tribunal’s decision and allow him to contest elections.
Meanwhile, the ECP will allot electoral symbols to contesting candidates for next general elections on Saturday. The ECP said that the polling for general elections will be held on 8th February.
Meanwhile, different political parties have issued names of their candidates for the next polls.
