ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has condemned in the strongest possible terms the Israeli attack on Al-Tabeen School in eastern Gaza on Saturday, which led to the death of over 100 civilians, injuring many more, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attacking an overcrowded school sheltering displaced persons, particularly when they were performing morning prayers, is a horrific, inhuman, and cowardly act. “The indiscriminate targeting of civilian populations and facilities is a grave violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes war crimes,” the ministry added.
Israel must be held accountable for these war crimes and genocide in Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded.
“We call on the international community, especially the United Nations and backers of Israel, to take immediate steps to bring an end to the Gaza genocide and to protect the people of Gaza,” the ministry concluded.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had called for the Israeli leadership and security forces to be held accountable for genocide and war crimes against Palestinians.
In a statement, the Prime Minister vehemently condemned the recent Israeli attack on a school in Gaza, describing it as a grave act of aggression. He pledged that Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic and moral support to Palestinians at all international forums.
The Prime Minister prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Palestinian families.
PM Shehbaz Sharif denounced the attack on school children as an unprecedented act of brutality and called for the Israeli leadership and security forces to be held accountable for the genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the International Court of Justice’s decisions regarding Israel to be enforced.
PM Shehbaz Sharif urged the international community, including the United Nations, to take decisive action to end Israeli aggression.
Gaza’s civil defence agency said that an Israeli attack hit a school in Gaza City, killing around 100 people. Gaza’s civil defence agency spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said in a post on Telegram, “Dozens injured after the Israeli bombing of the Al-Taba’een school in the Al-Sahaba area in Gaza City,”. Basal has described the attack as a horrific massacre with some bodies catching fire.
