ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military actions against Lebanon, calling them a grave violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, during a press briefing on Thursday, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Baloch also criticized ongoing Israeli violence in Gaza, accusing Israeli forces of violating international humanitarian law. She condemned the return of a container holding 88 decomposing Palestinian bodies to Gaza, calling the act a breach of human dignity and international standards. Pakistan urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During the briefing, Baloch highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly session, where he urged for global support to help developing nations overcome challenges like debt and climate-related disasters. Sharif called for reforms to the global financial system to foster a more equitable environment for vulnerable countries.

Additionally, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to diplomatic, political, and moral support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) contact group on Jammu and Kashmir recently reiterated its support for Kashmir during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
