ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the provocative remarks made by India’s Defense Minister on Wednesday in Drass, Ladakh, boasting readiness to cross the Line of Control (LoC). The remarks have been deemed belligerent and a threat to regional peace and stability in South Asia.

In response to India’s aggressive rhetoric, Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch urged India to exercise utmost caution and refrain from making irresponsible statements about Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. “Such jingoistic behavior must come to an end, as it contributes to destabilizing the strategic environment in the region,” the spokesperson said.

Pakistan Capable to Defend its Territory

The spokesperson said that Pakistan asserts its capability to defend itself against any aggression and calls for an end to the practice of dragging Pakistan into India’s populist public discourse to incite hyper-nationalism and gain electoral advantages.

Furthermore, Pakistan highlights that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is an internationally-recognized disputed territory, and the final resolution should be made in accordance with the will of the people expressed through a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the United Nations’ auspices. “India is urged to faithfully implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions and avoid entertaining grandiose notions,” the spokesperson said.
