ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly criticized the “highly irresponsible” statements made by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh regarding the region around the Indus River in Southern Pakistan, known as ‘Sindhu,’ and his provocative remarks appear to be influenced by the concept of ‘Akhand Bharat’ (undivided India).
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed Pakistan’s condemnation, stating, “We strongly condemn the highly irresponsible remarks made by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, a prominent member of India’s ruling party and an advocate of the bigoted Hindutva ideology, during the National Sindhi Convention in Lucknow.”
CM’s Remarks Target India’s Own Religious Minorities: Pakistan
It is deeply concerning that the Chief Minister has cited the reclamation of the ‘Ram Janmabhoomi’ as a template for reclaiming a region that is part of Pakistan. It is important to recall that on December 6, 1992, a Hindu supremacist mob unlawfully demolished the historic Babri Mosque in Ayodhya.
The Chief Minister’s provocative statements appear to be linked to the concept of ‘Akhand Bharat’ (undivided India), which is a gratuitous assertion. These remarks reflect a revisionist and expansionist mindset, not only seeking to assert dominance over the culture and identity of neighboring countries but also India’s own religious minorities. This perspective distorts historical facts.
