ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi has said the government of Pakistan is devoted to protecting the fundamental rights of the minority community in Pakistan, which are guaranteed in the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
President Alvi has said in a message on the occasion of Christmas while adding that the state was well aware of the fundamental rights of the brethren minority communities and appreciated their contributions to bringing peace, harmony, and political stability to the country
“I am pleased that the government of Pakistan has taken numerous steps to empower the minorities in the country, and they have been delivering in all spheres of life. No doubt, the minorities in Pakistan are actively participating in the development and prosperity of the country,” The President added.
On the occasion of Christmas, Dr Alvi extended his heartiest blessings to the Christian community in Pakistan and all over the world.
Minorities’ rights in Pakistan
He further said Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, had clarified all the principles of making this society stable before and during the formation of Pakistan.
As Quaid-e-Azam said, “With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve,” the president mentioned, adding that moving forward as a nation, the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan had guaranteed rights to all of the citizens irrespective of their religion, caste, and creed.
He added that today millions of Christians all around the globe and in Pakistan celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ, who was sent to the world as an embodiment symbol of peace, brotherhood, and respect for the entire humanity.
Dr Alvi said this day reminds us of values preached by Jesus Christ: love, peace, tolerance, respect, and humanity. As Muslims, we respect and admire Jesus Christ as one of the great prophets of God Almighty.”
On this special occasion, president Alvi also appreciated the valuable and splendid services of all minorities, particularly the Christian community, for their country, especially in the field of health, economy, and education.
“I pay huge tribute to all of them for their patriotic and sincere contribution to this country, and I am confident that they would continue to play their positive role as harbingers of peace and prosperity in Pakistan,” President Alvi added. – APP
