ISLAMABAD: Pakistan emerged victorious in the final of the Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025, decisively defeating the Maldives 60-35 at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in Jeonju-si, South Korea, on Friday.

The Pakistani side delivered a commanding performance from the start, establishing control early and maintaining their lead throughout all four quarters. The first quarter concluded with Pakistan ahead 17-5, a margin that steadily increased as the match progressed.

By half-time, the score was 34-17, and by the third quarter, Pakistan had extended their lead to 45-23. The final whistle confirmed Pakistan’s championship triumph with a convincing 60-35 win.

Notable contributions came from players Leya Raza Shah, Alisha Naveed, Sumayya Kouser, Haleema, Jasmine Farooq, another standout player also named Sumayya, Alina, Amani, Parisa, and Farah Rasheed, all of whom played exceptionally well to secure Pakistan’s strong performance in the final.

Historic achievement

Officials from the Pakistan Netball Federation, including Chairman Mudassar Arian, President Sameen Malik, and Secretary General Muhammad Riaz, warmly congratulated the team on their historic achievement.

The Asian Youth Girls Netball Championship 2025, organised under the auspices of the Asian Netball Federation, took place from 27 June to 4 July.

It is worth noting that Pakistan began their campaign emphatically, thrashing Saudi Arabia 71-15. In their second match, the Green Shirts maintained their impressive form with a 56-32 victory over Chinese Taipei.

In the third group-stage fixture, Pakistan dominated South Korea with a staggering 91-6 scoreline, followed by another commanding 79-39 win against Japan in their fourth match.
