ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have jointly decided to bolster their collaboration within the realm of mainstream media. This significant decision was reached during a meeting between a Chinese media delegation, led by China’s Political Consellor Bao Zhong, and the Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Murtaza Solangi, as stated in a press release issued on Saturday.
Furthermore, the two sides have mutually agreed to highlight the projects associated with the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) through state-run media platforms such as PTV, Radio Pakistan, and APP. They also express their commitment to enhancing practical cooperation through joint reporting and facilitating the exchange of media delegations.
Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi conveyed Pakistan’s profound appreciation for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), characterizing it as a tangible representation of the pursuit of peace and prosperity through economic development.
Media’s Vital Role in Promoting CPEC
Murtaza Solangi emphasized the pivotal role that media plays in raising public awareness concerning the significance of CPEC and the strong bilateral relationship with China in driving economic growth.
He further underlined Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China across various domains in the new phase of high-quality development of CPEC. Pakistan aims to learn from China’s extensive experience in poverty alleviation, research and development, information technology, media, and numerous other fields.
In response, the Chinese Political Consellor affirmed that CPEC is envisioned as a corridor of love and friendship and pledged that China would amplify its cooperation with Pakistan in the areas of media, information technology, agriculture, and the industrial sector.
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Zahoor Ahmed, Executive Director General EP Wing, Managing Director APP, Director General PBC, and Director Current Affairs PTV.
