Pakistan, China Resolve to Continue Cooperation for Regional Peace, Development and Stability

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister held in-depth consultations with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held in-depth consultations with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing where both sides expressed their firm resolve to continue bilateral cooperation for regional peace, development and stability.

“Both sides exchanged views on the evolving situation in South Asia, future trajectory of Pakistan-China friendship, and CPEC phase 2,” a Foreign Ministry statement said.

Hailing an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China, both leaders expressed satisfaction at the commonality of views on all issues of mutual interest.

They expressed their firm resolve to continue bilateral cooperation for regional peace, development, and stability.

Ties with Pakistan an Important Priority for China: CPC Minister

Earlier, Ishaq Dar met with the Minister of International Department of the Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao. Dar appreciated China’s firm support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and issues of its core interest, according to the statement.

According to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, during the meeting, the two sides discussed the regional situation following the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, and stressed adherence to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and international law for maintaining regional peace and stability.

India’s illegal decision

Dar underlined the need for the international community to take note of India’s unilateral and illegal decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in abeyance. He stressed that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, remains vital for lasting peace in South Asia.

In view of the 74th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties being celebrated on 21 May 2025, both sides underlined the unique nature of the Pakistan-China friendship and agreed to continue endeavouring to pass it on to the younger generation of the two countries.

Dar, arrived in Beijing on a three-day official visit from 19-21 May 2025 on Monday. The visit is a part of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, and a reaffirmation of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two brotherly countries.
